Purpose and learning objectives

The purpose of this course is to increase your understanding of the value of journey management. The course will enhance your abilities to build, implement and monitor an effective journey management process that works for your employees and your organization.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  1. Explain the importance of workplace journey management
  2. Identify and explain the key elements of an effective Journey Management Process (JMP)
  3. Use Road Safety At Work tools and resources to build and implement an effective JMP in your workplace.

Lesson One

What is Journey Management?

  1. Provides an overview of journey management and explains key terms
  2. Identifies key elements of a journey management process (JMP)
  3. Explains how an effective JMP helps achieve safety, legal and business objectives
  4. Explains journey management in the context of the hierarchy of controls

Lesson Two

Journey Management in Action

  1. Identifies and explains key questions your JMP needs to address
  2. Outlines the basic steps involved in putting journey management to work
  3. Explains the importance of trip plans, and demonstrates examples
  4. Identifies common risks employees face when driving, explains the value of check-ins and presents examples and guidance

  1. Demonstrates Road Safety At Work journey management tools

Lesson Four


  1. Provides guidance on how to monitor and maintain your JMP
  2. Provides a summary and tips for implementing an effective JMP
  3. Provides links to resources – videos, online tools, forms and more
  4. Final wrap-up activity

Throughout the course, you will find information in text, videos, interactive graphics and activities. Lessons involve practical scenarios and activities designed to help you understand the concepts and methods so you can apply them to driving circumstances in your workplace.

Quizzes at the end of topics will help prepare you for the final quiz, but do not count towards your final score. Once you have finished all lessons, complete the final quiz (pass score = 75%) and print your Record of Completion to verify your success. You have an unlimited number of attempts to complete the final quiz.
